Due to some sort of strange celestial alignment, I’ve been honored with several requests for collaboration on other venues. Since you’re reading this, I’m assuming this may be of interest to you.
- The Bro Show - Myke and Terry, two gentlemen from across the pond, recently invited me back for another appearance on their stellar podcast and I was happy to oblige. You can grab a listen here wherein I offer the occasional ill-timed joke and zero input while these two young men discuss interesting topics like Google I/O (and the various product announcements) and Microsoft’s purchase of Skype.
- Enough - My good friend Patrick (who we’ll get back to in a second), curator of the excellent Minimal Mac blog, invited me to appear on his podcast recently where we discuss the finer points of why Evernote beats the pants off of Yojimbo. Includes limited name-calling and a healthy dose of my horrible use of analogy and speed-speaking. He was also kind enough to keep me around to talk about what’s enough for me (get it?) with regards to my Mac.
- MacSparky - My new buddy David Sparks and I had coffee awhile back and he asked me if I’d be willing to participate in his iPhone Home Screens series. Of course, I accepted and you can read the result here. Thankfully, because it’s written instead of spoken, I was able to remove most of the stuttering.
And now, I’d like to direct your attention to a few of my awesome friends who are doing awesome things.
- Good buddy and designer extraordinaire Aaron Mahnke wrote a freaking novel. As in, an actual, fictional story that he cooked up in his own head. It’s called The Hand of Andulain and while I’m a bit ashamed to say that I haven’t finished it yet, you should definitely go pick up a copy as soon as you finish reading this post because freaking novel.
- The aforementioned Patrick Rhone has produced an excellent book of his own called Keeping it Straight. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of it and if you want some real life lessons from a fantastic writer, then do yourself a favor and get yourself some of that.
- I’m pretty sure David Sparks has found some sort of weird tonic that allows him to not sleep because, in the past few months, he’s published a book called Mac at Work, began work on a second book called iPad at Work, created a three-part screen cast extolling the virtues of my beloved OmniFocus and consistently produces on of the finest Mac podcasts around called Mac Power Users. That and he’s a freaking lawyer. With children. No bloody idea how this guy does it.
- Former TUAW colleague and all-around badass Dave Caolo released his first book entitled A Beginner’s Guide to Using Your iPad as a Business Productivity Tool. Dave has been in the Mac trenches longer than most of us mere mortals, so you know it’s worth your time and cheddar.
I’m proud to know each and every one of these fine people. They look “hard” straight in the eye and give it the bird. They make things and they inspire me to do the same.
